So today I thought, “Hey, I’ll try one of those new grease bombs from KFC.” I really just wanted to try it, to try it. Here are some of the pics I took of me trying the Double Down from KFC:

I don’t know if you can tell…. but I am not impressed. I seriously have a stomach ache, and a headache now… Things like this should not go into your body.

Stay away!

Wednesday! Ke$ha, New Music from Jamie Foxx, JT, and T.I.

Wow… Ke$ha cleans up well.

The Glampop, wanna be Gaga looking singer, looks reall hot with out the trashed out wardrobe.

Jamie Foxx, Justin Timberlake and T.I. ’Winner’

I have had some luck on picking songs that I think will be a hit. B.O.B./Bruno Mars “Nothin on you’, Tiao Cruz and Luda ‘Break your Heart’ and I think I have another one. It’s called ‘Winner’ from Jamie Foxx, JT, and TI. Check it out here.

Mary J Blige covers ‘Stairway to Heaven’

AMAZING!

Mary J. Blige has impressed me. She teams up with Travis Barker and Randy Jackson, to cover ‘Stairway To Heaven’. Knocked it out of the park! Sometimes people try to remake classic songs, she didn’t. She just sang it with class. I applaud you Mary, great job. I will buy this once it’s out on iTunes.

You don’t want to see Betty White mad…

Jesse James, I suggest you RUN! Betty White is going to kill you… okay maybe not kill, but I bet she could guilt you to death.

Betty White, who co-starred with Sandra Bullock in The Proposal, is reportedly furious with her pal’s allegedly unfaithful husband. A source tells Pop Eater that Betty “cannot understand why he would be so stupid. He had everything. A beautiful, talented wife who adored him, an amazing daughter that Sandra treats as her own, and he has thrown it all away for some floozy.” Betty is allegedly so angry that she can’t mention James’s name without cursing.

In other Sandra news…

The canceled the Berlin premiere of the Blind Side. Poor Sandra.

American Idol reaches an all time low… IMO.

MILEY CYRUS will be on “American Idol” tonight, because she’s serving as this week’s “celebrity mentor.”  And she’ll be back tomorrow night to perform her single, “When I Look At You”. Also tomorrow night, JOE JONAS and his girlfriend DEMI LOVATO will sing their new duet, “Make a Wave”.
Miley may have a lot of experience being a young idol in the music industry, but it’s still amusing to consider her a “mentor.”  There are only two contestants that are younger than Miley. Doesn’t make no damn sense.

More reasons for not having a real social life… lol

‘Things’ and Raaaaaaaandy!

I am now ten months into, what a lot of us are calling, vacation from radio. I am on part-time right now, but…. not the same. I am one not to work full-time, or multiple gigs. Even in college I was working three jobs; Quizno’s, 3 2 1 Kawasaki, and the El Dorado Roller Ring. There is a bright side to not being employed.

First, I am making the right move in going back to college. Being unemployed, I guess I can apply for some scholarships and grants. Now the question EVERYONE asks, “What are you going to go back for?” There are many things that I really interest in, but I must narrow it down so that I have a clear vision. We can throw out being an English teacher, just read this blog. I’ve kind of grown to web design/graphic design. Then there is cooking. I have ALWAYS loved to cook. While being unemployed, I have discovered new things when it comes to my palate. Seriously, celery root is one of my new favorite things. I use it as a potato substitute, as in  potato salad, and things of that nature. Then there is the part of me that is trying to NEVER get back to this point. I have one shortened word, VET. Lets be honest, people tend to treat their pets better that their kids. People pay $80 just to GROOM the pooch. Just some thoughts.

Second, I have all the time in the world to do things. Most of the time ‘things’ cost money, that’s something I am kind short on. I have become better at not spending $$$ all the time, lets hope that translates into me saving some $$ when I am gainfully employed again. One example of a ‘thing’, GuyFieri is in Jacksonville, and I shall go to the resturant and try to get on tv for Diner’s Drive-ins and Dives.

Third, I am trying to get back into shape. Back two years ago, I had lost 30lbs. Unemployment gets boring, so in the beginning, I cooked. A lot. I gained 20lbs of it back. I am back to the gym, and doing anything I can get just get back in shape. I am also trying to add some muscle this time, which is working. I am having a problem with the losing the fat. It’s not coming off as fast as it did last time. I shall over come this.

Okay, sooooo I got to post this. Aziz Ansari aka Raaaaaaandy(From the movie Funny People), puts out a diss track jumping on EVERYONE. It’s funny, but obnoxious in a good way. I like the way he gets on Kanye and his blog. Check it out here… if you want to download it, you can too.

Peace and Love,

Spoon.

New Music from a Jacksonville dood, and a dude.

What up? I know, Nov was my last post and that may bring up the question, what have I been doing? Well, I am trying to be employed. Just want to say thanks to everyone who thought about hiring me. This has been one of the worst times to get a job, but don’t things happen for a reason. Who knows, maybe this will work out for the better.

Now, to the music.

When I first got to Jacksonville, my PD wanted a new music show on Sundays, that would show off local artists too. We found a couple of cool artist and played their music on the station. One person I found, was Rob Roy. He’s got something about his style that makes me want to listen. So, I played Rollercoaster Baby on the radio, and people dug it. I had MySpaced with him a couple of times, and found out he was heading out to California to try and make it. So… fast  forward to this season of Entourage, I’m sitting there watching, and I hear one of his songs! Fur in my cap made it to Entourage. I was excited for this doode. Now… I guess he’s making moves. I give you the video for Don’t Go: The Remix, by dude ROYAL ft. Rob Roy. I dig this song.

Yes, dude Royal looks like Kid Cudi, but he’s def. different. I always say a hook captures the attention of the listener, and I feel they have NAILED this one having Rob Roy in it. It’s doesn’t hurt them, that the beat is fresh, and dare I say summer-eeee.

I do have some good news… I have jumped back on the air @ 95.1 WAPE here in Jax. Just weekend work, but it’s SOOOOO better than nothing. Also, if you haven’t added me on Twitter yet, why not? @spoondj.

Peace and love.

Florida/Georgia-Halloween Weekend!

When big things happen where you live, you enjoy them. Most of the time, I am working the big things. Thats the life of a Radio Personality. This year, I got to experience FL/GA weekend and Halloween as a ‘normal’ person. No live broadcasts from the Pepsi Pavillion or from a Night club. I dressed up for Halloween and hung out with friends for the first time since 2004. What was I?

Yep, Allan from the Hangover. I must have posed for a hundred pics over two nights. I didn’t win any contests, but I had a damn good time! Then… the event that everyone in Jax looks forward to, FL/GA! I met up with Russ and Mariah to head out at 9am. Got there by 10:30, and the drinking started! BTW, did I mention the game started at 3:30! Jello shots, Bud Light, good company, Football, BBQ, people watching, Gieco Caveman, Ghosting, riot punch, Georgia girls, Bungee Run, 90 degrees in Oct, made it a fantastic day. I do have to say, you Georgia Peaches know how to get down. The accent gets me every time. I still have love for the Florida girls. I mean come on.

girls

This week, I hope, will bring on some change. It’s some much-needed change. Oh, I am also working out back at the gym where I lost all of my weight. It just motivates me more than the one by my old apt. It felt like a spa. This one seems more like a weight room.

Peace and love,

Ignoring the real things in life….

In a few short days it will be six months since the day I was let go from the station. I didn’t think it would be this hard to bounce back. I think I have the skills to put myself above others, but now I am starting to doubt myself. My lease is up next week, and for the first time in my life, I have no plans. I have an idea, but nothing that is solid. The thought is to put my belongings into a P.O.D.and head out on the road. Stop off a few places… DC, STL, ICT…etc.

So I thought I had something locked down in Gainsville, buuuuuut the PD at that station flaked out. I mean, dude didn’t even come out and meet me. One, I drove  from Jax to Gainsville for this interview/tryout, have some respect to me and meet me. Two, the whole entire station was LOST. They had no clue what they actually did there. The owner told me that the system is so different from CC, that I would sound totally different on the air. WHAT? My voice doesn’t change. Yes, can be processed differently, but it’s still me. I didn’t get it.

I just really want to get back to doing what I love to do. I don’t want to fall back to something else. Rent to own SUCKS!

Oh, one last thing. I finally got to hit up Tampa. Had a good time other that the fact that I shelled out some money. I really didnt like the side of town we stayed on. It’s strange when you go to the store and you are the only one who is speaking english. Here are some pics I took from my phone. Waiting for the Bachelor to get me the rest.
